An RMDL (Recreational Marine Drivers Licence) is a fancy way of saying that you have the skills and training to be safe operating your fishing dingy, ski boat or other boat in Queensland. More importantly you are legally able to operate a recreational craft.
Recreational Marine Drivers Licence is mandatory for anyone driving a boat in QLD with an engine size greater than 6 Horsepower. We provide you with the tools and skills to safely and legally operate a boat in Queensland waterways.
PWCL stands for Personal Watercraft Licence. Essentially this is a jetski. In Queensland it is legally required that you have your RMDL (boat licence) and have completed a PWC course to operate a jetski on your own or with passengers.

You can do the course and be issued a Statement of Competency at 15 ½ years old.
However, you cannot go to the Department of Main Roads to get your license until you are 16 years old. You need to think about the timing of the process. Discuss with us if you have any doubts!

This is provided by a third- party provider, BoatN, approved by the regulator BoatSafe Queensland. It takes around 3-4 hours, and can be done over multiple sittings.
Remember to print/save a digital copy of the certificate, and show your trainer when you meet for the practical/in- person test.
